WAPA 2008 Annual Conference and General Meeting HighlightsThe annual WAPA meeting was recently held September 17-19, at Harrah's in Las Vegas, NV. Three days of networking, training and too much food! A large number of WAPA membership was represented both domestically and internationally, as well as FAA and the leading industry manufacturers. This year's event kicked off with a reception on Wednesday September 17th, a perfect opportunity to greet old friends and catch up on events; it was enjoyed by all. Two days of presentations, questions and answer opportunities and membership meeting ensued. Highlights included presentations by the FAA, Hartzell, McCauley and MT Propeller, service manual and service bulletin issue presentations, AeroScan overview, as well as BFGoodrich, Aero Technologies, etc. The conference ended with a delicious dinner and enjoyable and memorable speaker presentation by Jimmie Reedy. FAA training certificates have been issued and posted. If you have not received yours please contact Gary Jordan. WAPA management wishes to thank the members and suppliers for attending, as well as their generous sponsorship of breaks, meals and material without which this event would not be possible. A poll was taken on suggestions for next year's meeting site and will be discussed and voted on at the next board meeting. Details will be announced when available. Thanks again for a successful meeting! Click on the links below to view and/or download the PowerPoint presentations that were shared at this year's meeting: Designated Aviation Consulting |
Jimmie ReedyDefinitely one of the highlights of this year's WAPA meeting was being treated to an after dinner presentation from Jimmie Reedy. Jimmie began his career at Reading Aircraft Service in Reading, Pennsylvania. His first job was defueling and picking loose sealant out of the belly tanks of Lockheed Loadstars. Jimmie then moved to the propeller shop at Reading and the rest as they say is history. Jimmie enchanted us with many stories, soe involving fellow WAPA members from his many years of travel and safety work. He left us wanting him to spill the beans; but he continues to protect the not so innocent. Jimmie had a lot of praise for the WAPA organization and members for their ongoing commitment to safety and propeller education. Jimmie continues to travel, speak and spread the word about the enormous importance of safety and quality reputable work. Thanks Jimmie!
Final Thoughts For This Issue...The key to a successful newsletter is making it useful to your readers; therefore, we need your help in order to make this a successful and useful publication. If you have tips of the trade, photos of interest, articles of interest, aviation jokes, new products etc. send them in. We need oarsman to row the boat! We are also looking for training or work accomplishments, anniversary, retirement articles of membership employees, etc. With everyone's efforts this could expand to a montly resource of knowledge and interest for all WAPA members. This organization has a 16 year history of industry service and lobbying, and a huge wealth of talent and knowledge, and needs your help to fourish and stay strong. Please e-mail your newsletter contributions etc., to Gary Jordan at garyj@nas.com.
